Deployment

I forgot to talk about the "deployment" that we had on Saturday. Well, I got to bed about 12am that night and my alarm was set for 02:40 I got up and packed my stuff and went down to the det. From 0400 to 0500 we did physical training out in the parking lot by the det. It wasn't as hard as some of us were expecting. But it still worked us pretty good I guess. After that they had us go in to different classes for about 15 minuets each. The first one we had to learn about making a bed, how to do "hospital corners" and do it right. The we had a warrior knowledge quiz that I did pretty good on. I did mess up a few words though, oh well. After that we learned how to fold clothes and towels, that was pretty pointless then we learned "dining hall procedures" that was okay, seems like eating at camp is going to be a load of fun. From the second you start eating you have 10mins to get done. And since your working so hard at field training, you wanna eat a lot. So its not really enough time to get everything in. Anyway, we then went outside and then filed in and ate dining hall style, I ate my whole plate of food in 2mins. But it wasn't a lot of food. After that we changed into our BDU's and then got inspected, we go inspected outside and it was cold, but I survived. After that we went in they gave us 5mins to change in to our blues(which no one did that fast) and then we got inspected again and had some cadets and Capitan Warr talk to us. That was it. it wasn't too bad.
well, gotta go, the latest rumor is that they are brining back PD(physical discipline) at camp this summer!

pfd

Yesterday was a pretty normal day, we just ran 2 miles and then did calisthenics. On Wednesdays we usually don't wear our PT uniform, but today we did. We had to do the PFD(physical fitness diagnostic). I wasn't really ready for it but I did a pretty good job. Last time I had like 36 push ups, today I did 45. My sit ups were about the same. I also ran the 1.5 mile in 10:22. After that we did some marching. We do these things called "drill offs" sometimes. And I always suck at them. They stick you in formation and then give you static commands. If you move wrong on a command then your out. I was out at the second command I think. I guess I should work on that. i'm wasted from the pfd
tomorrow I have the same stuff going on, lead lab and classes, choir practice and an Arnold Air Society meeting. Friday is Dining Out. I've never been to one but ill let you know how it turns out.

Over Half Over

This week has been pretty crazy. Tuesday we had pt, but for some reason it wasn't like it has been, I thought they were going to work us out hard. We started running the stairs and before I knew it we were doing marching. They barely worked us at all. FTP was cancelled Wednesday and Thursday so, it hasn't been that bad. But still I have been doing a lot of things. Tuesday night we had flight meeting where be Basicaly discussed what were going to do on Saturday, ill talk about that later. That was about it, but one cool thing that happened is that I learned how to polish my boots. For some reason I my boots have been just not good, I've tried to polish them and I've done it a lot, but nothing I was doing seemed like it was enough. They never got too shiny. Well, Cadet Wallace is in my flight and I asked her what was up. She showed me a technique and in like 10 mins one of my boots looked about a million times better. So Wednesday night I spent making them booth look good and I'm really happy I got that taken care of.
Thursdays are the days I have classes and everything, well this day was veterans day and so we had to wear our service dress uniforms. After classes we went to some flag thing, I don't know what they called it. The army and us had to line up while they read a bunch of names of veterans that went to BYU. Well, we had to line up in formation, there were about 100 hundred of us and we were all standing at parade rest while they read the names, were not supposed to move or anything. Well, I was standing there minding my own business and out of the corner of my eye a Cadet just fell forward and he was down. He passed out cause he locked his knees or something, everyone else just stood there and two other cadets helped out the guy. Its one of those things that's kind of funny, but your not sure if you should think it's funny. Poor guy.
Thursday night we had Choir practice and that's going good, were singing at dining out next Friday on the 19th. After that we had our Arnold Air Society Candidate meeting, that went pretty good, but I still think there is not enough order in our classes. We had to pass off warrior knowledge and that went okay, but the members of the society do all sorts of things to make fun of us and humiliate us, its fun, and funny. I was trying to report in to the offices to pass of something and the cadet said "Enter!" I walked in and came up to him and he wasn't the guy I wanted to see, so I saluted him and said "sir, Cadet Hall Reports to make a statement." Cadet Mayer said back "what's your statement?". I stood there and realized he wasn't the guy I wanted to see and I didn't know why I was talking to him. I replied "sir, I don't know what knowledge your passing off, and I don't know why I'm here" he busted up laughing and signed my sword ( we have to get all the members signatures in order to be in the society, we have plastic ninja swords that we have them sign because the AAS used to be the "air pirates" but now they're the Ninjas or something, it makes no sense) it was lots of fun. I am learning a lot, good times

ok, so this Saturday were doing some kind of "deployment" thing. I have to be at the DET at 0330 and they're going to yell at us and make us do all sorts of stuff for hours, lets hope it's fun..

Base Visit/Warrior Run

It's been to long, I need to renew my effort to write more often.

well, last week I went on the base visit that the detatchment went on, it was a lot of fun. We went down to Luke Air Force Base and Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, both were in Arizona and it was a lot of fun to go and see the bases. We drove down in a big bus on Tuesday and Wednesday morning is when we went to Luke. Luke is where they do most of the F16 training and we got to see an f16 up close and it was awesome. We got to talk to some pilots and walk around the plane can check it out. While on base we also got to eat and see some of the maintainance groups working on maintaining the aircraft. It was cool, I only wish I could have ridden on one of the f16s. Some of the cadets were picked to go on rides that day, but since they didn't have what they call chamber cards, they couldn't go. But I anyone of us on the base trip get our "chamber cards" then it is open for us to go to Luke and fly f16s for the next 6 months, basically unlimited rides. Cool, I'm going to try to get on that

then next day we went to Tucson to see Davis-Monthan AFB, it was fun too. there, they train for flying the A10 aircraft, the whole plane was built around the gun that it carries, its crazy and super cool. We talked to a pilot about it and got to see one up close and look in the cockpit. Also at Davis-Monthan we got to see what some call the "boneyard" but I guess if your on base then it's not called that, you have to call it the AMARC, I think that's the acronym, I don't even know how to spell it. It's this part of the air force base that has lots and lots of planes that are stored. Thousands of them, they were really cool to look at and see all the different types of aircraft. There were lots of fighters and lots of cargo planes too. At one point they let us get out of the bus and go and play around on a C5, the c5 is one of the biggest cargo planes every built and it was cool to look at. Other things we did there were: we went to some thing called the LRS, I don't know what that stands for either, but that's where the airmen and officers go to get all their stuff before getting deployed and going out to battle basically. There, they give them their sleeping bag and chemical suits and stuff like that, it was interesting.

this morning, being Monday I usually don't get up to go to FTP, but I did to day. We had to do what they call a Warrior Run with the Army. We ran all around BYU campus singing Jodies and waking up all the zoobies. Its great.
